Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated President Faustin-Archange Touadera on his re-election as President of the Central African Republic (CAR), reaffirming China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a congratulatory message delivered on Tuesday, President Xi highlighted the steady growth of political trust and cooperation between China and the Central African Republic in recent years.

He noted that the two nations have continued to deepen their partnership through sustained dialogue, mutual respect and shared development goals.

Xi said China and the Central African Republic have consistently supported each other on matters concerning their core interests and major concerns, a reflection of the strong political mutual trust that underpins relations between Beijing and Bangui.

He added that cooperation between the two countries has expanded across a range of sectors, including infrastructure development, trade, health, education and people-to-people exchanges.

According to Xi, China places great importance on the development of its relationship with the Central African Republic and views the country as a key partner in its broader engagement with Africa.

He expressed China’s willingness to work closely with President Touadera during his new term of office to further consolidate bilateral ties and enhance cooperation under existing frameworks.

President Xi also emphasized the importance of implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which serves as a central platform for advancing China–Africa relations. He said China is ready to collaborate with the Central African Republic to actively translate the summit’s resolutions into tangible development projects that support economic growth and social development.

“The continuous upgrading of the China–Central African Republic strategic partnership will bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries,” Xi said, underscoring China’s long-term commitment to Africa’s development agenda.

President Touadera was re-elected following national elections, extending his leadership in a country that continues to navigate post-conflict reconstruction, security challenges and economic recovery. China has been one of the Central African Republic’s key development partners, providing support in infrastructure, medical assistance and peace-building efforts.

The message from President Xi signals Beijing’s intention to maintain close diplomatic engagement with Bangui while reinforcing China’s broader strategy of strengthening South–South cooperation across the African continent.
