Members of the Temba South African Police Service (SAPS), joined by Gauteng Traffic Wardens, recently gathered to celebrate Father’s Day and recognise the contribution of fathers, grandfathers, guardians and uncles within the policing family.
The celebration brought together male members from different components of Temba SAPS and the Gauteng Traffic Wardens, with management using the occasion to encourage officers to remain strong family leaders and positive role models in their communities.
Police management shared messages of support, urging fathers to lead by example and consider how their actions can affect their children and families.

Members were reminded that being a father goes beyond providing for a household, but also includes offering guidance, protection, discipline and emotional support.
Temba SAPS Station Commander Brigadier Johannes Tau praised the women and organisers who helped make the celebration possible.
Tau also acknowledged the challenges faced by fathers, particularly police officers who must balance demanding work responsibilities with family life.
He noted that some officers are single fathers who carry the responsibility of playing both parental roles while continuing to serve and protect their communities.
“The day is not all about gifts, but about saying we see you, we value you and we appreciate what you are doing in this organisation,” Tau said.
He encouraged members to face life’s challenges with courage and to remain committed to being responsible fathers and role models for their children.
The event formed part of Father’s Day celebrations aimed at recognising the sacrifices made by men in uniform, while promoting responsible fatherhood and positive leadership within families.
