The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has announced the social grant payment dates for March 2026.
Older Persons Grants will be paid from Tuesday, 03 March 2026. Old Age Grant beneficiaries receiving Child Support Grant and Foster Care Grant will also be able to access the linked children’s grants on the same day.
They will be followed by people with Disabilities on Wednesday, 04 March 2026, including grants linked to this account. All other grants will be paid from Thursday, 05 March 2026.
Social Grant amounts will increase as follows from April 2026:
o The Older Persons Grant, Disability Grant, and Care Dependency Grant will increase by R80 to R2 400
o War Veterans Grant will increase by R80 to R2 420
o Foster Care Grant will increase by R40 to R1 290
o Child Support Grant and Grant-In-Aid will increase by R20 to R580
o COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) will continue in its current form over the year ahead.
Beneficiaries have an option to open their bank accounts with a financial institution of their choice. This option provides greater control over their funds and collection processes.
The SASSA/SAPO card can still function as a debit card at ATMs and counters of various merchants such as SPAR, Checkers, Shoprite, Boxer, Pick n Pay, Cambridge, and other
