The Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities invites members of the public and organisations to nominate suitable candidates for appointment to serve in the Commission for Gender Equality as Commissioners mandated by the Commission for Gender Equality Act, 2013.
All applicants/nominees will be required to complete an online application, ( on the parliamentary website and/or submit via email (CGE-Application@parliament.gov.za and PDF Download link) or submit by hand at the Parliamentary Visitors Centre, 100 Plein Street, Cape Town City Centre, 8000.
All applicants and nominees are required to submit full Curriculum Vitae, certified copies (not older than 3 months) of their Identity Documents and academic qualifications.
A list of shortlisted candidates and their Curriculum Vitae will be published on the Parliamentary website to allow members of the public to comment on the suitability of candidates.
Disclosure of personal information of candidates is subject to lawful requirement. All shortlisted candidates will be subject to pre-employment screening by State Security Agency and verification of qualifications by Parliamentary Human Resources. All applications will be in line with Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013, and Employment Equity Act No. 55 of 1998.
The President will, on recommendation of Parliament, appoint a member to the Commission for a term of office not exceeding five years.
The members of the Commission may be appointed as full-time or part-time. Any person, whose term of office as a member of the Commission has expired, may be reappointed for one additional term.
The candidates must be South African citizens who are fit and proper persons for appointment to the Commission and are broadly representative of South African community, have a record of commitment to the promotion of gender equality and have applicable knowledge of and experience in matters connected with the objects of the Commission.
Nominations must contain the full name, address/email address and contact details of the person or organisation making nomination, a signed acceptance of the nomination by nominee including the nominator.
Closing date for applications is midnight on 01 February 2026
