A 26 year old man, Kabelo Kekana, was sentenced to ten (10) years omprisonment by Temba magistrate court on 20 October 2025 for rape of his girlfriend occurred in October 2022 near Thapelo Highway Pub.
The victim aged 26 was with her friend at around 22:00 near the pub when the boyfriend suddenly started assaulting her with open hands and forced her to accompany him to his place and on arrival at his room he locked the door and raped her.
The case was reported and assigned to Sergeant Maria Mapyane of Temba Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual offence (FCS) who immediately searched for the suspect.
On 02 October 2022 at around 09:00 the suspect handed himself to the police. He was detained and charged.
He appeared again in court on 30 September 2025 where he was found guilty and was sentenced yesterday to ten years imprisonment and declared unfit to possess a firearm.
