A delegation of about eight officials and entrepreneurs from Zhejiang in the province, China visited Kgomo Kgomo village in the area of Moretele local municipality.

The China team let by the President for women empowerment met with North West team, Premier Lazarus Mokgosi, MEC for Education Mme Viola Motsumi, Moretele local municipality Mayor clr Masango George Manyike, councillors and Kgosi Nchaupe wa Boraro.

According to the premier, the event will be used to build a closer relationship between these two countries ‘South Africa is one of the main economies of the African continent and has often been said to be the gateway to Africa.

This is an opportunity to match Chinese businesses with local people and help bring much-needed investment to the country.

“This will help us fight some of our most critical challenges including unemployment and lack of youth development. This will also lead to the transfer of key skills into our local economy as we know China is one of the leading technology-producing countries in the world added Mokgosi.

Chinese Women Empowerment President Ms Zhao Meiling said the Chinese delegation will be looking for investment in health, education, infrastructure, and agricultural development.

They will use Kgomo Kgomo as a model of a poverty reduction program, turning villages into urban areas. Currently, they will start school projects and clinics.
