Ghana event combines culture, technology and skills exchangeA practical example of China–Africa people-to-people cooperation has taken place in Ghana, where Chinese and Ghanaian workers, young people, business representatives, traditional leaders and media gathered for the China–Africa Youth Culture Forum.
The event formed part of the 2026 China–Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, an initiative aimed at strengthening relationships between Chinese and African communities through culture, education, youth development and skills.
Participants from China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and Ghana shared experiences through mentor-and-apprentice discussions, while technical demonstrations showcased technologies including bridge construction and drone aerial surveying.
The programme also included language-pairing activities, allowing Chinese and Ghanaian participants to exchange cultural stories and learn from one another.
Safety discussions promoted cooperation in the workplace, while outstanding Ghanaian employees were recognised for their contributions.
The gathering demonstrated that cultural exchange can happen far beyond traditional festivals and official meetings.
Workplaces, construction projects, training programmes and local communities can also become spaces where Chinese and African people learn from one another.
For Ghana, the event provided an opportunity to highlight local talent and participation, while for Chinese participants it offered direct engagement with Ghanaian culture and communities.
The Ghana gathering forms part of a wider 2026 programme that places young people, skills development, cultural understanding and practical cooperation at the centre of the evolving China–Africa relationship.
